“You got to love a good set of breasts – as long as you’re not the one sporting them!”
If you are troubles by your man boobs and trying to decide what to do about it you are not alone. Turns out, a lot of men are dealing with the same issue. Male breast reduction surgeries increased by 6 percent back in 2011 and it’s increasing every year.
Generally, there are two reasons why a guy may have man boobs. The first is basically a medical condition resulting from a hormonal imbalance or elevated levels of estrogen and lowered levels of testosterone. This causes small painful lumps to form under the nipple. Now, sometimes this condition occurs in young guys going through puberty. In this case the issue will usually go away on it’s own. But if you are a grow man with gyno you will likely have to take some sort of action to get rid of it.
The second reason for man boobs is excess fat stored in the chest. This can also be caused by excess systemic estrogen, but others factors are bad diet and lack of exercise. There are a lot more estrogenic compounds in the environment these days that our bodies have to deal with. This comes from hormones in our foods, pesticides and even plastics. So that combined with eating a lot of refined foods will pack on the weight. And when you are gaining fat and have high estrogen levels the chest in one area that gets hit.
More about Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia, commonly referred to as gyno, is breast tissue growing beneath the nipple area in men or boys caused by an imbalance in estrogen and testosterone. It may occur in one or both breasts. It’s often seen during puberty, and is very often an unwanted aftereffect of anabolic steroids. Its presence may likewise indicate an underlying medic condition such as cancer, liver disease, or a pituitary tumor.
In cases of steroid abuse, excess testosterone is converted to estrogen, which binds to receptors in the breast tissue and causes glandular growth. Gynecomastia mostly manifests as a lump right under the nipple and usually can be a ‘tell tale’ side of steroid use. It is frequently physically painful and of course very embarrassing especially for fit guys with low body fat but protruding nipples. Though it could resolve spontaneously with good PCT (post cycle therapy) it mostly will require surgical removal at this point. You could also try natural methods as well. There has been good success with the use of anti-estrogens combined with topical DHT to reduce or even completely get rid of gyno lumps even after a lot of time has passed. You can learn more about that here.
If estrogen is elevated in our blood, excess calories could be deposited around the chest area. Hence, excess chest fat usually can entirely be trimmed by following a program designed for overall fat loss, as spot reduction is essentially impossible. For instance, it is difficult to target chest fat by doing only chest work. You build up chest muscle just make the man boobs more noticeable! Exercising the total body intensely is the key for fat loss, and chest fat is no exception.
